Miss Universe

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty competition that is run by the Miss Universe Organization. The contest was founded in 1952 and in 1996 the pageant was acquired by Donald Trump.

The pageant is broadcast on NBC, simulcast in Spanish on Telemundo and webcast on Xbox Live. The 2013 Miss Universe competition took place in Las Vegas, Nevada where Olivia Culpo from the USA took home the crown.

Past celebrity judges and hosts include Giuliana Rancic, Bret Michaels, Nigel Barker, Criss Angel, Vivica A. Fox and more.

The Miss Universe Organization produces the internationally-recognized MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® competitions. The MISS UNIVERSE® and MISS USA® competitions air as live specials and consistently rank among the most-watched television programming in the world.

Satellite developments in the 1970′s enabled the Miss Universe competition to travel outside the United States, and in 1972, via satellite, for the first time from Dorado, Puerto Rico. That event inaugurated a series of annual television specials, which presented the culture and attractions of some of the most spectacular regions of the world to an international audience of hundreds of millions of people.
