Winners Announced for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes

Winners Announced for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes

Beverly Hills, CA, Sunday, January 5 – Tonight, the  82nd Annual Golden Globes®  hosted by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ from The Beverly Hilton. Nikki made history as the first woman to host the Golden Globes® solo, delivering a masterful 10-minute opening monologue that didn’t skip a beat, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening celebrating excellence in film and television. The star-studded event marked the official start of awards season with major wins for Emilia Pérez, Shogun, and The Brutalist.

NOTABLE SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nikki Glaser, the first solo female host in Golden Globes® history, delivered a masterful 10-minute opening monologue that didn’t skip a beat. Highlights from her monologue include:
    • Kicking it off with a reference to the longtime show venue, “I’ve got to say: This feels like I finally made it. I’m in a room full of producers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and this time all of my clothes are on.”
    • A bit about how the year’s nominated TV shows The Bear, The Penguin, and Baby Reindeer are not “just things found in RFK’s freezer”
    • The comedian also turned her attention to Ben Affleck, “Yes, Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch. These are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight.”
    • “Thank you so much for all of your hard work,” Glaser said of Kidman, who is nominated for Babygirl. “Thank you. Thank you for working so hard, and thank you to Keith Urban for playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year.”
  • Emilia Pérez defeated Wicked to win Best Picture — Musical or Comedy.
  • Fernanda Torres became the first Brazilian to win the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama (I’m Still Here). In her acceptance speech, Torres dedicated her award to her mother, who was the last Brazilian nominee in that category 25 years ago.
  • Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (The Substance) — and reflected on her first recognition and award in her entire 45-year career in Hollywood.
  • Sebastian Stan took home Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (A Different Man), advocating for empathy and inclusion in his acceptance speech.
  • Zoe Saldaña won her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress (Emilia Pérez), and delivered a heartfelt tribute to her collaborators, celebrating the power of diverse storytelling.
  • Colin Farrell captured hearts with a humorous and humble speech after winning Best Actor in a Limited Series (The Penguin), including a charming shoutout to craft services.
  • Shōgun took home the Best Television Series – Drama, sweeping all four categories the historic epic was nominated for including Best Performance by a Female Actor – Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor – Drama, and Best Performance by a Male Actor In A Supporting Role – Drama.
  • Two musicals took home Golden Globes, with Emilia Pérez nabbing the top award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Wicked winning Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
  • After Emilia Pérez took home the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, the film’s star Karla Sofía Gascón delivered a powerful speech to close the night. Gascón made history as the first transgender woman to be nominated as a lead actress for a film at the Golden Globes.
